KHAIRPUR: Taluka Chairman and Vice Chairman of town committee Daharki have terminated 563 employees without intimating them.
Talking to this correspondent, Taluka Chairman Muneer Ahmed Mahar said they have prepared a list of 563 employees who have been terminated because their appointment orders were found suspicious and fake.
“The list also includes ghost employees who have been receiving salary since long,” he added. Former town officer at town committee Daharki Rahman Soomro said that as per ordinance 2001 he had authority to make appointments.
He further said “taluka chairman has called me to verify appointment orders I made during my tenure, so I am doing it and would furnish my list soon.” However, when contacted, council members Mian Shafiq Ahmed, Jai Parkash, and Raj Kumar said no meeting was called regarding the termination of the town employees, and the chairman and vice chairman cannot terminate employees without the consent of the council.
It was also learnt that the previous town officers had been disbursing salaries to the terminated employees regularly since three and a half years.
Seeking anonymity, a town employee told this correspondent that to control ghost employees and make sure the attendance of the employees the town authorities had introduced bio-metric system.
But, he added, this system got annulled within few months when the authorities saw a large number of employees became regular to their duties.
